Updates have been made to the competition format in APEX Global 2010. Figure 1 below illustrates the overall structure of the competition.
1) Figure 1 illustrates the overall structure of the competition. The formal competition begins on Wednesday, 28 April (Day 3) and lasts until Friday, 30 April (Day 5). There are 24 participating teams. They will be grouped into 4 divisions of 6 teams each.
2) Case administering, collection of submission materials and the first round of presentations will occur in 6 waves. Each team will be assigned to a wave, as shown in Table 1. The division and wave assignments will be determined by drawing lots during the Welcome Dinner on Day 1.

3) A business-IT case prepared for the competition will be handed to each team on Wednesday morning at 8:00 A.M. This marks the very beginning of the case deliberation period. Each team will have 24 hours to develop a compelling solution to the problems identified in the case. During this period, the teams will deliberate in their respective hotel rooms.
4) At the end of the 24-hour deliberation period, teams will submit a set of presentation slides and 5 additional deliverables describing their solutions. Each team will present its solution to a jury panel of business-IT professionals.
5) Judging will take place in 3 rounds. Judging for Rounds 1 and 2 will take place on Thursday, 29 April (Day 4), and teams selected as finalists will present again in Round 3 on Friday.
6) The full slate of finalists will be announced after Round 2 at the end of day on Thursday. An addendum to the case will then be released to the finalist teams. Finalists will be allowed to rework their presentation slides for Round 3 on Friday. The results of Round 3 will produce the APEX Global 2010 Champion.
