Welcome to Singapore, and to the SMU APEX Global Business IT case competition.
You are participating in an event that is special for the following reasons:
- The case analysis challenges each team to think and analyze in the realm of Business as well as in the realm of Information Systems. The ability to effectively integrate these two complementary ways of understanding and problem solving is emphasized throughout the event.
- APEX Global is more than a case competition. It is a forum for learning and professional development. It is also a time and place to explore the wide array of high valued career paths at the interface of Information Systems and Business. The Discussion Forum preceding the case analysis is an opportunity to learn directly from senior executives of global enterprises facing cutting edge challenges.
- The event will eventually produce a champion team. Yet, a more important emphasis is on helping every participating individual to strengthen his or her ability to contribute to cross functional and cross cultural teams addressing complex problems at the interface of IT and Business.
- As a “for students, by students” event, APEX Global was conceived, organized and executed by students. It is centered on providing a good experience for students. While faculty members and industry experts contribute in various ways, the students inspire and drive the effort.
